Classroom Volunteer, Fall 2026
Volunteer with Girls Inc as a program volunteer and help inspire girls to be strong, smart, and bold!
Why: In partnership with schools and at Girls Inc. centers, we focus on the development of the whole girl. She learns to value herself, take risks, and discover and develop her inherent strengths. The combination of long-lasting mentoring relationships, a pro-girl environment, and evidence-based programming equips girls to navigate gender, economic, and social barriers and grow up healthy, educated, and independent. Informed by girls and their families, we also advocate for legislation and policies to increase opportunities and rights for all girls.
Who: Girls Inc. inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold, through direct service and advocacy.We serve girls (including youth identifying as female), 5-13 years old, living in under-resourced LA neighborhoods, and facing intersecting systemic inequities that limit the resources and opportunities they need to succeed. In 2025, Girls Inc. LA will be extending services to high schools to serve girls, ages 14-18.
What to Expect: Bring your boldest self to empower girls to discover their inherent strengths and mentor them on making informed decisions while having fun.
- In-class volunteers support instructors with weekly activities in our classrooms, assist in creating a safe and inviting space for girls, and guide youth to explore topics that will help them build community, think outside the box, and increase their confidence.
- A classroom volunteer requires a weekly commitment to engage and mentor youth after school, once or twice a week, between 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm. Girls Inc. offers programs in the Fall from August to December & the Spring semester from January to June.
What's Required:
- Must be at least 18 years old to volunteer.
- Attend a Zoom volunteer meeting to learn about Girls Inc. of LA
- Complete a Livescan fingerprinting screening
- Submit a negative TB test.
- Complete volunteer-mandated reporter training.
- Attend a Girls Inc. School Safety Orientation
