Fourth-grade field trip leaders
Rancho Los Cerritos Historic Site seeks adults interested in sharing history with curious 4th-grade students attending field trips to The Rancho. We will be offering training to become a field trip leader starting on Thursday, September 24 from 9 am to noon and continuing on each subsequent Thursday until November 5. We also have all classes available virtually so if you can't make all classes - no problem!
After training, school docents are asked to lead tours at least twice a month on Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday mornings for the remainder of the school year. Please consider enriching children's lives by becoming a school docent, you'll be glad you did! The look of wonder in children's eyes is priceless, and the rewards of working with 9-year-olds defies description.
Rancho Los Cerritos is located at 4600 Virginia Road in Long Beach. Built 180 years ago, the adobe home and grounds echo with the rich history of Indigenous, Spanish, Mexican, and American California and with the families who helped transform Southern California from its ranching beginnings to the modern and urban society it is today. The site, a National, State and Long Beach Historic Landmark, also includes historic gardens, a research library, and archives. The Rancho is operated by the Rancho Los Cerritos Foundation in private-public partnership with the City of Long Beach.
